Before my child started attending the 1-to-1 emotional support sessions at Climb 4, we were becoming increasingly concerned about their wellbeing. They had very few friends and struggled to socialise with other children. They often chose to be alone and would become very anxious in situations where they had to interact with others. Their confidence was very low, and they would frequently worry about things that seemed small to others but felt overwhelming to them. At home, we noticed low mood, increased anxiety, and a lack of belief in themselves, which was difficult for the whole family to see.
These difficulties were also starting to affect family life. My child would become upset easily, and it was sometimes hard for us to know how to help them. This occasionally caused tension at home, as we were all worried and trying our best to support them but did not always know the right way to respond. Their relationship with siblings and other family members was affected because they would often withdraw, become frustrated, or avoid spending time together.
Since attending the 1-to-1 sessions with the mental health coach at Climb 4, we have seen a noticeable improvement in their emotional wellbeing. From the beginning, the sessions provided a safe and supportive space where they felt listened to and understood. The activities used in the sessions suited them well, as they found it easier to express their feelings through games, movement, and creative tasks rather than just talking. This helped them open up in a way we had not seen before.
Over time, their confidence has grown, and they seem much more comfortable in themselves. They are more willing to try new things and are less anxious in social situations. We have also noticed that their mood has improved, and they are better able to talk about their worries instead of keeping everything inside. They appear calmer and more able to manage their emotions, even when things feel difficult.
The support they have received has had a positive impact on our whole family. Our relationship with our child has improved because they are more open with us and more willing to share how they are feeling. We feel we understand them better, and this has reduced stress at home. Their relationships with siblings and other family members have also improved, as they are now more relaxed, more patient, and more willing to spend time together.
We are very grateful for the support provided through the emotional 1-to-1 sessions at Climb 4. The sessions have helped our child feel safe, supported, and more confident, and this has made a real difference not only to them but to our whole family.
